So Long Old Friend

Last night we said goodbye to our dear sweet bunny, Morty. He was old and weak and it was just his time. We knew our days with him were ending soon but Neil and I are still taking our loss rather hard. We have had him for 6 1/2 years and to us he was family. In fact, Morty made us a family before Neil and I knew we would ever really become one. I wanted a rabbit all my life and I am certain I owned the best of the bunch.

Morty,
We will miss your silly Binky-hops around the room, the way to gobbled up bananas and turned your nose up at carrots, your nose kisses, your Grunt-box noises when you weren't getting your way, the way you would kick out on the couch like a cat, your fearlessness in the yard, your stubborn nature and refusals to come out from under the deck when it was time to come inside, the cute way you cleaned you face and ears with your paws, your green stained paws and face whenever you ate cilantro, your teeth click purrs when you were pet behind the ears and cheeks just right, and the way you made my daughters eyes light up when you let her feed you by hand. I already miss you so much. But I know you are off in a better place wreaking havoc on God's computer cords and eating bananas by the dozen. Say hello to Nora for me, Sweet Morty-Pie. We love you and you'll forever be in our heart.

awe, big hugs. always so sad to lose a pet; they most certainly are members of the family.
